Organizing Kitchen Cabinets

I have been on this kick on organizing here lately wanting to get my house in order and try to keep it that way. Well I started in the kitchen and organized all of my spices, baking goods, and coffee, drinks, etc. I got everything at the Dollar Tree and was so excited to finish it up this past weekend. I had to search 5 different Dollar Trees in my area to get exactly would I wanted mainly one of the items HA! So here is a before picture of what my cabinet looked like:

Its a mess, I tried to organize it all of the time but it always seems to get back messy. So I decided to head to the Dollar Tree and picked up a few things here and there until I had everything complete. I'm so excited to show you the finished look.

After:

I made the lazy susan's from two Dollar Tree round cake pans and a bag of marbles. I ended up halving the bag to make two lazy susan's. I really am liking this idea, it takes less space up in your cabinets and you can also see everything you have without pulling it all out.
Well I hope I have inspired you to organize your kitchen or any other space in your home. I'm so excited for our Diy project we did this past weekend to so you later this week. Have a wonderful day.

Menu Plan for the week

One thing I have been doing for the last eight years now is I plan out my meals every week and take a grocery list with me to the store. It helps me out everyday so when I get off of work I can see what is for dinner and start cooking. Makes life much easier. Also I don't just do dinner, I have a plan for Breakfast, Lunch(only on weekends), Dinner and Desserts. I know that might seem alot of work but for the last eight years it has worked for me and my family. Now since I've been doing it so long, I'm trying something new out, instead of a week worth of breakfast, lunch, dinners and desserts, its a whole month and I've started it a few months ago. So now I don't have to worry about B/L/D/D for a whole month. Woohoo! Sounds good to me. I get alot of my recipes from Pinterst and when I first started the menu plan I got alot of recipes from magazines. You can check out my boards on Pinterest of different recipes you might wanna try.

Menu for the Week:
Sunday
B-Malt o Meal and raisin toast
L- tuna fish sandwiches and chips
D- Tortellini Soup with grilled cheese
Dessert- Banana

Monday:
B-Smoothies
D- Taco Salad
Dessert- Key Lime Pie

Tuesday:
B-French Toast Sticks
D- Raviloi/Ceasar Salad with garlic bread
Dessert- Pudding

Wednesday:
B- Breakfast Burritos( I make these ahead of time)
D- Breakfast Pie(with ham, eggs and cheese)
Dessert- Fruit (oranges)

Thursday:
B- Cereal
D- Chicken Drumsticks one pot meal
Dessert- Jello with fruit

Friday:
B- Cereal Bars
D- Pizza
Dessert- Brownies

I end it with Friday's and start over with Saturday but next week I will go into more details on how I do my menu plan. Until next time, have a wonderful week ahead and start meal planning!

Wooden Bath Caddy DIY

Good Morning, and hope you had a wonderful week, but I so glad I was able to relax this morning and not head off to work. Remember when I told you about this post about me and my son going around picking up treasures from the Big trash pickup. Well it was this pallet that I found, and when you see pallets you need to grab them up, cause there are so many fun projects you can do with them.
I found this quick and easy video to take apart the pallet in 5mins

this was the pallet we found under the dresser

I just took two longer pieces of the pallet and removed all nails and cut one down to 12in wide and the other one I had my husband cut in half for me to use as the back of the caddy to hold the pieces together. We cut that one at 31 1/2in long and the width of those pieces were 1 1/4 inches. I did end up having my husband cut me one more strip for the back cause I felt two wasn't strong enough, It was perfect with three pieces on the back.

Here's what you should end up with

These are the strips for the back of the caddy you will use

I used:
8- 12in boards from pallet piece
3- 31 1/2 long and 1 1/4 wide strips for the back (now this measurements will depend on the size of your bathtub so you might have to adjust it)
1in nails to nail them in place (you can get these at walmart for .97)
stain dark walnut

I spaced the planks with some leftover 1/4in paneling plywood
when I go to the end I was short a little piece so my husband got out the saw again and cut me a skinny strip for the end piece which it measured at 1 3/8in

This is the end results, I love how it looks and its functional for relaxing in the bathtub

Well I hope I explained good enough for you to go and make your own, and start relaxing in style. Have a great weekend!

Friday's Favorite Pinterest

Yay its finally Friday! Its been a pretty long but good week. Since I have been in the organizing mood I want to share some of my favorite pins from pinterest. These are all things you can get at your local dollar stores. Well lets jump in and see what I have for you today.

Now I did this one this past weekend in my garage, and for a buck you can't beat how cheap but functional it is.

I also did this one in my kids bathroom as well and you can see it here

I was so excited to see this one cause those metal/wire baskets are pricey, but with a little spray paint and a dollar store basket you can have you a fun look a like metal/wire basket without breaking the bank.

and last but not least this is another project that I tackled this past weekend, told you I was in the mood to organize Ha! Its the pans between marbles lazy susan. I ended up making two of these babies, and now I want another one for my baking goods.

there was no source to this it was just an image

Well I hope you enjoyed my Friday's Favorite Pins from Pinterest. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Trash to Treasure

A few months ago in my area every year we have what is called BIG trash pickup or fall cleaning. My son and I love to go around seeing what kind of treasures we can find. Well this past one we had I ended up finding a few good ideas and this piece was an awesome find.

I really didn't know what I was going to do with this piece but I knew I couldn't let it go to the trash. So I put it in the truck and kept driving around. When I finally got home I realized exactly what I wanted to do with the piece and I was so excited about it. It was going to go down my hallway wall. We had just planked it and that would just add to that wall with my trash to treasure find.

I had sanded it down some and hung it, and I love how it adds to the wall.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Organizing Kids Bathroom

Since the New Year started one of my goals was to get my house organized. So I jumped on Pinterest and started pinning and found some really good ideas that would work great in my home. Also can't forget Youtube, its my second favorite site to look on. My first organizing project was to get the kids bathroom sink organized.

This is my inspiration:

So I headed out to the Dollar Tree and got these

I thought I was done but with the smaller hooks the baskets fell right off the door, and Dollar Tree didn't have the bigger hooks so I opt to go to Walmart and found a 6 pk for .97, even better.

I rehung the bigger hooks and put the baskets back up and it worked and they are more sturdy and stronger now.

I was so happy with the results I'm gonna do another three baskets for my girls hair brushes, etc.

Until then.......Have a great rest of the week.

Farmhouse bedside dresser makeover

Every year around our big junk pickup around our neighborhoods, my son and I always drive around and see what kind of good treasures we can find. Well on our last fall junk pickup last year we were out looking and we can across this good piece of furniture I just couldn't pass it by. So we got it and I brought it home and knew this would be the perfect bedside dresser for our farmhouse bedroom. I did a quick measurement just to make sure it was going to work and Awesome it did! I was so excited that afternoon I got busy sanding it down some to get ready for paint. Here's the before and after shots of it.

Before:

I got it painted and the back of the dresser was kinda bad so I had some extra 1/4 plywood around I just pieced them on there and perfect, it made it more sturdy as well.
(see that pallet, we found it too and I will show you what I did with it too)

I finished painted it took it in my bedroom. I wasn't really excited about just the plain white in there, so the next day took it back outside and sanded on it and it still wasn't looking how I wanted so I got some acetone to remove some of the paint and sanded some more and finally this is how I wanted it. I love how it turned out. Its perfect now!

I very happy how everything is turning out so far. Again stay tuned for more of our Farmhouse Master bedroom. Have a great rest of the week.

No Sew Canvas Drop Cloth bedskirt

Making over our Farmhouse Master Bedroom on a budget and I was needing a new bed skirt and I got one my pinterest and starting searching for ideas for my bed skirt but it also had to be cheap. I found this drop cloth idea all over pinterest so I did more research on finding the cheapest drop cloths in town, and I search Lowe's and Home Depot but still was a little too high for me, and I keep looking. I was so excited to discovered Harbor Freight close to my house even better was only $8.99 and they always have 20% coupons out but unfortunately I didn't use one this time but still got two drops for the price of one at Lowe's or Home Depot

Here's what I got:
two 4x12 canvas dropcloth
Hot glue gun
hot glue sticks
box springs (mine is a Queen)

First of all I didn't show this but I cut my drop cloth in half so I ended up with 4 separate pieces
I started at the top of the box springs and just hot glued and pulled over the drop cloth to my desired pleat and so on. I found it easier to glue all of the pleats first then hot glue the whole ruffled skirt onto the box springs

this was the start of the ruffled skirt as you can see I didn't really measured I just eyeballed the pleats, some are bigger than others but thats okay it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

this is how I folded the corners of the box springs

Here is the finished look, I was so happy with how it turned out, the room is coming together slowly but surely

Until next time have a cozy weekend!

Farmhouse Master Bedroom Makeover

I've been away from my blog for sometime now, and I feel its time to get back into it.  I've really enjoyed taken some time off being with my family, watching my kids grow up, its so important. My husband and I both had changed jobs in the time being away from my blog and we are really happy with our changes we made. The kids are getting ready to finish up middle school and going to enter in High School soon. Wow where has the time gone by! Anyways just a little bit about us and now lets jump into the good stuff. My husband and I have been really wanting to sell our house for years and we actually sold our house once and backed out of the sale. We have been wanting a bigger house for all of the kids to have their own rooms and just spread out, but for some reason I think God wants us here in this house. I had a dream one night that we were adding onto our home and God was talking to me thru that dream. In saying that and having the dream, my mind starting spinning on what room to redo and so on. Well I wanted to start with our Master bedroom cause we wanted a cozy bedroom to come relax in at the end of the day, also I love farmhouse look. So here we go, its still a working progress but this is what we have come up with so far.

Before:

added the wall planks using 1/4in plywood
heres a great tutorial I used here

I used putty to hide all of the nail holes and get ready for paint

I had primer leftover and I did primer the walls first but funny my husband comes home with the paint for me and its the primer and paint all in one, WOW I just wasted a step ha! That's okay at least I know the wall is double primed now ha!

I was only gonna do the planked walls white and do the rest of my walls another color but since our walls were so dark I wanted to make our room feel open and brighter so I just painted the whole room a Dove White color in valspar from Lowes. I love this color its a true white color I've ever seen.

After:

So here is a start on our relaxing/romantic bedroom, more to come so stayed tuned............
