New Chandelier

My husband and I talked about getting a chandelier in our bedroom, after making our bed posts here. We finally found the right one that we liked at Home Depot here. We also are going to add a dimmer switch to ease the light in the bedroom and also to make it a little more romantic. Here is how it turned out.

Kids Bathroom Mini Makeover

I did a mini makeover on my kids bathroom this past month and wanted to share how it turned out. This is what it looked like before:

Made this shelf its a knockoff of pottery barn kids and tutorial from Inspiring Hearts and Home I loved everything she had in her bathroom and I already had the blue walls, and paneling just needed a new shower and cabinet over the toliet. I also repainted the mirror frame and the door from black to white again and the towel rack I had made awhile back ago was black and now its white. I love how the room turned out and this was one of my favorite and easy projects I have done in awhile.

Friday's Favorite Pinterest

Wow I can't believe summer is almost over and school is just right around the corner. We have had a blessed summer with some good rain, nice cool temps, but the hotter temps did come back, but all in all we have enjoyed it. Well its been a long time since I've blogged on here and I need to get myself back into the groove. I want to start with some pinterest favorites that I have ran across and wanted to share. Enjoy!

New Firepit Area

Let's talk about a firepit area, we were tired of mowing around it and moving chairs, etc. So my husband and I got busy and came up with a plan. We made a circle as big as we wanted the area to be. Then we dug up the surface grass to get ready to lay fabric down. Once the fabric was in place we laid brown mulch down on top of the fabric. We were done. I had made our benches first before we even did the circle, so we just worked around them. We love how it turned out and can't wait to be able to roast some hot dogs and make smores around the fire. Stools to plant table

I was in need of some plant stands for my new front porch. I wasn't using these bar stools anymore and had been in the shed for sometime, so I decided to cut the legs down and use them as my tables for my ferns. Here's a before picture of them:

I so love how it turned out and the best part it was FREE, just had to buy some .97 cans of spray paint at walmart. The plant boxes work perfect on there too. Hope you are having a wonderful Memorial Day! Enjoy the rest of your week.

Plastic Planter Boxes

Every year we have an annual junk pick up in the neighborhoods, so the kids and I decided to go around and see what we could find. Needless to say that's where I found the plastic planter boxes. This is what the looked like when I got them:

and here they are now:

New Front Porch

My husband has been working so hard on to make this happen. We finally got a new front porch Yay! We are super happy, now we can sit and have a cup of coffee in the morning or just have an ice tea in the evenings. Its so peaceful to sit out there and just relax. I wanted to show some before pics and during. Here we go:

I love when the wind blows and the wind chimes start making music to my ears. Another project down and more to come. Hope you had a beautiful weekend.

Our Bed got a makeover

After having our bed for about 8 yrs we wanted a new bed so instead of spending more money(on which we didn't have) on a new bed we decided to give our bed an upgrade. I was wanting a canopy bed and we found plans how to make the canopy part here. We already had the bed just needed a canopy. It worked out just fine. Here's a sneak peek when we started:

Here's how I hang the curtains:

I used the screw in hooks shown here:

Used some PVC pipes for the rods

(tip: for taken the stamp off the pvc pipe, I just used my scraper and scraped it off and it came off great and I didn't even have to paint)

I bought some flat white sheets at Walmart and took out the seam on each side of the top of the sheet and then just placed it on my rod. It was so easy to make. 

We are very pleased on how it turned out. We are going to change the light fixture with a beautiful chandelier. I also painted our bedroom a dark chocolate color and did another collage over our tv stand just gotta get some more pics blowed up to put in the frames.
