DIY wood shelf and updates on back patio

My husband has been bringing some scrap wood home from work and when its FREE why not. We use it to burn in our chimnea and also our bigger firepit in the backyard. So with all of this wood we need a place to store it. So I decided to make us a shelf to organize all of the wood, paper and small pieces of wood to get the fire started. Here are the pieces of wood I used:

I cut all of my wood and started putting it together to form a box as you see here:
(I had no plans to go off I just custom built it to my area where I wanted it)
I cut three of these the same size (I'm only showing two here cause I started attaching the shelf to the side pieces

My shelf was 4ft tall that was the highest of the scrap wood I had so I knew that would work perfect.
I just screwed the sides to the bottom part of the shelf as you see here:

and here, it was easier than I thought it would be and it fits perfect in the area on our back patio

Here's where I started with before:

Now with the new shelf, I just love this area now more functional and I put some extra blankets up on top so we can get more cozy up around the fire.

I did some more updates on the patio, this is a before of what I had:

After: I had a bookcase in the garage that was using it for storage so I thought I would bring it out and make it useful. I had to make a curtain a little bit longer but that was no big deal.
I got my coffee cups/mug holder out and need to go to the thriftstore to look for a coffee maker to keep outside. Also I have some fun plans I will be sharing for the third shelf. I'm so excited to share soon.

Heres a before picture of us starting to collect our wood

After:
I had a second bookcase in the garage that was just for storage and I needed more room for the wood and it fits perfect in this corner. I hung my sign above it that is from Hobby Lobby. It looks much better.

I still have some more progress for the back patio but its coming together greatly!
I need to finish painting the concrete as you see in the above picture
Gonna build a new table
replace the 4x4 posts
get a privacy fence
patio curtains
chandlier from our dining (replacing our dining room with a new one)
and chairs
and I'm sure my list will keep going on. Hopefully that will be all to finish our patio up. I'm so excited I decided to do our back patio, cause we really have been getting alot of use of the area now but we will be using it way more now than before.
Hope you are having a great evening and thanks as always for stopping by my blog.
